What is Schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a kind of psychological maladjustment. In which crazy side effects are extremely noticeable. In such a circumstance, the capacity of an individual to think and grasp finishes and shows a strange way of behaving. Any problem reduces the ability to understand this. Apart from this, the connection with the real world is also lost. In this way, it is estimated that abnormality has come in the human being.
People have many questions about schizophrenia. Most of the people do not understand this and think the patient is crazy and leaves the treatment. Rather, the patient is beaten, chained, and locked in a room.
Symptoms of Schizophrenia:
We can divide the symptoms of schizophrenia into three parts.
1) Positive Symptoms
First, let's talk about positive symptoms. Two types of symptoms are important in this category. We call one delusion and the other hallucination.
Delusions
Delusions are thoughts that are false and delusional. And man understands them as truth. That is, the false belief of a person is very strong. In such a situation, whatever we try to explain to the patient, the patient considers his thoughts to be true.
There are more types of delusions, among which the Delusion of Persecution is the most common. In Delusion of Persecution, a person starts to doubt other people. As my neighbors do not want to harm me. Some people think that my family members want to kill me and take over my property. Some people think that something is being mixed with my food. And all these doubts lead to distance between a person and his family. Some people also think that the police are behind me and that I am very wanted by the government. Such symptoms are Delusions of Persecution.
Similarly, another type of Delusion as we call Delusion of Reference. In this, the patient feels that people are talking to him. People laugh at him, they make fun of him. The patient is suspicious of the people around that people are talking about him. In fact, Delusion is a false thought that the patient fully believes to be true. Therefore, the family members should also explain to the patient what he says is true.
Hallucinations
Other symptoms include hallucinations. Hallucination means actually feeling something that is not happening at all. Hearing a sound in his ears. When in reality there is no sound. The patient feels that he is being talked about, but in reality, there is no talking. In such a case, when the patients are asked that along with the voice that they have been hearing, someone is also seeing them? So they say no. Actually, the sounds are nothing. Such sounds are called auditory hallucinations. Auditory hallucinations are common in schizophrenia. About 70 percent of people experience an auditory hallucination.
Some people also experience visual hallucinations. This means that these people also see things that are not happening in reality, like the patient will say that something has been visible to me, it is a shadow of it, but nothing actually happens. Some people don't tell, but their actions are showing. As they are smiling to themselves, they are a little older. If you ask them who they are talking to, they do not tell, but when asked again and again, they tell that they are hearing a voice. Hallucinations and delusions are more common in schizophrenia and are more pronounced.
2) Negative symptoms
These symptoms refer to the decrease in the symptoms that used to work according to the daily routine before the disease but now cannot do the same, such as not engaging in work, etc. The patient's family reports that he does not do anything now. Stays in bed all day. No one talks or goes to work. Some people lose their emotions completely, neither smiling nor sad. That is, the loss of emotions are also negative symptom. Some people lose happiness. They don't track down delight in anything.
3) Disorganized symptoms
In these symptoms, a person starts doing strange actions like running away from home, tearing clothes, picking things from the garbage, and eating them.
Why does schizophrenia occur?
If the level of the hormone dopamine in the human brain increases beyond the prescribed amount, this disease can occur. Apart from this, there may be a genetic factor. Like having a family history of schizophrenia. Some people develop symptoms of schizophrenia after high levels of stress. And in some people, symptoms are already going on for a while, and later these symptoms suddenly increase.
Treatment of Schizophrenia:
The most important component of its treatment is Medication and Psychotherapy. That is, along with medication, psychological methods are also suitable. Many drugs have been available in the market since time immemorial to control dopamine levels. Research has shown that the sooner the treatment is started, the easier and faster the patient's chances of recovery are. There are. With timely, accurate diagnosis, appropriate medication, and excellent psychotherapy, some people are able to lead normal lives.
